General Program Guidelines

Safety & Pick-Up

  • Only authorized individuals listed on your registration form will be allowed to pick up your child.

  • Any changes in pick-up arrangements must be communicated in writing via email.

  • All individuals picking up a child must present a valid government-issued photo ID at dismissal for verification purposes.

  • If your child is in 4th or 5th grade and will be self-dismissing, Busy Bees must receive written authorization via email from a parent or legal guardian listed on the family account prior to your child's first day of self-dismissal.

Late Pick-Up Policy

  • Timely pick-up is essential. A late fee of $20 will be assessed for children picked up more than 10 minutes after the designated program end time. If a child is picked up more than 30 minutes after the designated program end time, the late fee will increase to $40.

  • Please communicate any delays as early as possible so we can ensure your child is supervised appropriately.  Same-day changes or delays after 1:00 PM must be communicated by phone, not email. You can reach us at 646-938-6257 between 1:00 PM and 6:00 PM.  Please note the phone is available only on days that Busy Bees After School program is in session.

  • For non-urgent matters or future-date schedule updates, please email us at info@bb101q.org

Drop-In Policy

  • Drop-in Policy Extended Care (4:00-6:00pm):  Drop-ins are welcome on a daily basis for our Extended Care program for an additional fee of $20. To be eligible for drop-in Extended Care, your child must have participated in the after school program on the same day. Parents/guardians must email us in advance to confirm a drop-in.

  • Drop-in Policy Enrichment Program (2:15-4:00pm): Requests for drop-in attendance in an after school enrichment class may be submitted to Busy Bees After School in the event of an emergency or other special circumstance.  Approval is not guaranteed and will be considered on a case-by-case basis, subject to class availability, staffing, and program capacity.  If the drop-in request is approved, the credit card on file will be charged the applicable drop-in fee of $32 per day.  Students may not attend the after school enrichment program on a day for which they are not enrolled without prior approval from Busy Bees After School.

Behavior Expectations

  • We foster a respectful and positive atmosphere for all children, staff, and families.

  • Respectful behavior is expected at all times. This includes following directions, using appropriate language, and treating others with kindness.

  • Disruptive, physically aggressive, or verbally abusive behavior will not be tolerated. If such behavior is repeated, families will be contacted and a meeting may be required.

  • Zero tolerance for bullying: Any incidents of bullying (verbal, physical, or social) will be taken seriously and may lead to suspension or immediate removal from the program.

  • Program Discretion: For the safety and well-being of students and staff, Busy Bees reserves the right to modify a child's participation, suspend enrollment, or remove a child from the program at any time, with or without prior notice.

Personal Belongings

  • To help minimize the risk of misplaced or unclaimed possessions, families are encouraged to clearly label each student’s items with a full name or other identifiable information. This includes clothing, bags, water bottles, electronic devices, and any other personal property. Although staff will make reasonable efforts to assist in the recovery of labeled belongings, the After School Program does not accept responsibility for any lost or forgotten items. Any unidentified materials that are recovered will be stored temporarily in a designated lost and found area.

Personal Electronic Devices

  • To reduce distractions and maintain a safe, engaged learning environment, personal electronic devices are not permitted in the After School program unless they are specifically required for a class activity. If a device is brought to the program and is not being used for an approved instructional purpose, students will be asked to put it away. If a student does not comply, program staff reserve the right to collect and securely hold the device until dismissal, at which point it will be returned to the student or their parent/guardian.
